Kristina wakes up to devastating news

Monday, August 5, 2024

At Dex’s apartment, Dex smiled when he saw Josslyn standing in the hallway, but his expression turned to concern when he noticed that she was upset. Josslyn assured him that she was physically fine, but not emotionally. As tears filled her eyes, Dex wrapped his arms around Josslyn. After he and Josslyn went to the sofa, she told him about the tragedy at Metro Court. Kristina shared that she had jumped into the pool to help, but she'd momentarily frozen when she'd seen it had been Kristina. Dex was supportive as he reminded Josslyn that her lifeguard training had kicked in, and she had saved Kristina’s life. Josslyn confessed that she had a horrible feeling that either Kristina or the baby might die. Later, Josslyn emerged from the bedroom, wearing Dex’s sweatshirt and a pair of his sweatpants. When he handed her a cup of tea, she admitted that she was grateful to have Dex back in her life. He joked that she hadn’t given him a choice about returning to Port Charles, but she reminded him that he could have disappeared again. “Like I said, there was no other choice,” Dex said. Josslyn apologized for how she had acted when she had ended things. “All I cared about was passing judgment,” Josslyn admitted. Dex insisted that someone had to because he’d forgiven himself too easily, while Josslyn had held him accountable and shown him that he wasn’t the man he wanted to be. Josslyn had learned things, too, and she promised to never take anything for granted. “Especially after today,” she said. Dex and Josslyn shared a passionate kiss, but Dex pulled away before things went too far because he didn’t want to rush her. Touched, Josslyn told Dex that it was one of the many reasons she trusted him. She confessed that all she'd been able to think about as she'd left the hospital had been how much she loved him and how she had let her pride and self-righteousness get in the way of that. Dex assured Josslyn that he loved her, too. He explained that joining the PCPD and getting his life back on track had been done for him—but also because it was a part of loving her. Josslyn assured him that he didn’t have to prove himself to her, so Dex clarified that he wanted to do it for himself. Dex and Josslyn went to his bedroom and made love. At the police station, Trina stood in the squad room, watching through the interrogation room’s window as Dante questioned Ava about Kristina’s fall. Chase walked over and asked Trina to follow him. He explained that it would be best if Trina kept her distance from Ava for a bit. “Yeah, of course,” Trina assured him. She asked if there had been any news about Kristina, but Anna appeared and asked Chase to accompany her. In the interrogation room, Ava noticed Trina watching her, but her attention quickly returned to Dante as he questioned her about the events in her suite before Kristina’s fall. Dante warned Ava that there had been multiple discrepancies in her story. He observed that her suite had been a mess, indicating that a struggle had taken place. Ava told Dante that she was sorry her answers didn’t satisfy him. “But it really did happen that fast,” she said. Just then, Anna and Chase entered. Anna gently but firmly made it clear that Dante should be at the hospital with his family. Dante was reluctant to leave, but Chase promised to take it from there. After Dante left, Ava feigned compassion for Dante’s situation, but she accused him of trying to “persuade” her to confirm his theory rather than letting Ava explain what had happened. Anna turned things over to Chase, and she left to question Trina. Chase started a recorder and asked Ava to tell him everything that had transpired between her and Kristina leading up to Kristina’s fall. Ava insisted that it had been a “horrible accident.” She revealed that Kristina had been subpoenaed to testify in Sonny and Ava’s custody hearing, but she was careful to leave out her role in the court summons. Ava claimed that Kristina knew Sonny was too volatile to be around Avery because Kristina had witnessed Sonny “brutally beating” Dex after Chase and Brook Lynn’s wedding reception. Ava accused Kristina of being out of control when she had arrived at Ava’s suite, and she suggested that Kristina might have bipolar disorder like Sonny. “Manic is the only way that I can describe her,” Ava said. Ava claimed that she had tried to calm Kristina down—even reminding Kristina that being so upset was not good for the baby—but Kristina had continued screaming at Ava. “She wasn’t making any sense,” Ava added.

Ava recalled Kristina threatening to testify that Ava had switched Morgan’s bipolar medication with placebos, triggering a mental breakdown, and that Ava had murdered Connie Falconeri. Ava pushed the memory away as she continued to lie about the confrontation with Kristina. Ava told Chase that she had tried to politely ask Kristina to leave, but Kristina had refused. Ava had a flashback of grabbing Kristina’s arm and Kristina jerking out of Ava’s grip. Chase asked if Ava had attempted to escort or guide Kristina to the door, but Ava assured him that she would never handle a pregnant woman like that.

“Much less one hopped up on adrenaline and rage,” Ava said. Chase asked how Kristina had fallen out the window, so Ava blamed it on a pair of shoes that she’d kicked off earlier. According to Ava, Kristina had been in a “blind rage” and tripped over the shoes. Ava recalled Kristina tripping on John’s bag and stumbling backwards, and later Ava moving the bags during her attempt to cover her tracks. Ava returned to the present as she told Chase that everything had happened too fast for her to react in time to keep Kristina from falling out the window.

In the squad room, Anna asked Trina about what she had witnessed at the pool. Trina recounted that she had heard a scream and seen someone land facedown in the pool. She shared that Josslyn and Gio had jumped into action to help Kristina, and Trina had looked up and seen Ava standing at a broken window. Anna asked if Trina had seen anything else, but Trina explained that Ava had closed the drapes.

When Trina saw Ava exit the interrogation room, she asked if she could talk to Ava. Anna agreed, so Trina walked over and hugged Ava. Ava felt bad that Trina had been pulled into things, but Trina shared that she’d been at the pool when Kristina had landed in the water. “What did you see?” Ava carefully asked. “Almost nothing,” Trina said. However, she added that she’d seen Ava standing at the broken window.

Chase told Anna that he would put a rush on the transcript of Ava’s statement, but he shared that he was certain Ava was hiding something. Anna walked over to Trina and said that she was free to go. Ava offered to buy Trina a coffee, but Anna explained that Ava would need to stay. After Trina left, Ava insisted that she had cooperated and answered all their questions, so she wanted to know if Anna intended to charge her. “Not at this time,” Anna said.

Chase explained that forensics was at Ava’s suite, gathering evidence, but Ava argued that it had been a “slip and fall,” not a crime scene. Annoyed, Ava made it clear that she would not say another word without her lawyer present.

At the hospital, T.J., Jordan, Sonny, and Alexis were gathered in the waiting area while Kristina underwent an emergency surgery to deliver the baby. Natalia and Blaze stood near the elevator as Natalia advised her daughter that they should leave. Blaze objected because Kristina was her girlfriend, but Natalia suggested it was not the place for them. Blaze disagreed because everyone gathered loved Kristina, including Blaze. Natalia pointed out that Blaze and Kristina had been dating for six months, while everyone else was Kristina’s family.

“As close as you feel to her, you’re not,” Natalia said. Natalia thought it would be respectful to let Kristina’s family hold vigil with each other as a family. Blaze didn’t think anyone would mind if she stayed, but Natalia refused to take no for an answer and dragged Blaze to the elevator.

A short time later, Natalia and Blaze arrived at Café Cherie. Natalia ordered a bowl of soup for her daughter because she insisted that Blaze’s blood sugar was crashing. Blaze grumbled that Natalia was a stage mother. Natalia realized that Blaze was still angry with her because she had made Blaze leave the hospital. “For starters,” Blaze said. Natalia promised that the last thing she wanted was to upset her daughter. “Yet you do it so frequently,” Blaze said.

Natalia admitted that she accepted that Blaze and Kristina loved each other, and she had even grown to care about Kristina. Blaze was skeptical because Natalia had a hard time saying that Blaze and Kristina were in a relationship. Natalia insisted she was trying. “Try harder,” Blaze snapped back. Natalia switched gears and asked Blaze to help her understand. “Tell me about you and Kristina,” Natalia asked.

Blaze shared that she had started seeing Kristina around Christmas, but it hadn’t been easy for Blaze because she’d been worried about the reaction of others, including Natalia. “You were afraid I’d judge you?” Natalia asked. Blaze clarified that she’d been afraid that Natalia would stop loving her, because it wouldn’t be the first time a mother had written off their gay child. Natalia was adamant that she would never do that.

Blaze opened up about the first time she and Kristina had held hands in public at Rice Plaza and how special it had been until Blaze had pulled away from Kristina when people Kristina knew had approached them. Blaze admitted that Kristina had called her out on it, and she credited Kristina with helping Blaze to stop hiding who she was and what she wanted. Natalia regretted how she had dismissed Blaze’s feelings for Kristina as a reaction to what Linc Brown had done to Blaze.

Natalia admitted that she hadn’t understood how Blaze had felt because Natalia had thought Blaze was a good girl. “And good girls don’t behave that way,” Natalia said. Blaze asked if Natalia still felt that way. Natalia likened it to learning to write with the left hand again after being forced to write with her right hand her whole life. Natalia confessed that she’d been certain that she’d been right that Blaze had just been going through a phase. “And that gay people aren’t serious?” Blaze asked.

Natalia chuckled because Blaze hadn’t known serious until Blaze had been on the receiving end of Kristina’s outrage. Blaze smiled and nodded in agreement. Blaze shared that Kristina was the most amazing person that Blaze had ever met, and Kristina inspired Blaze every day. When Blaze choked up with emotion at the thought of losing Kristina, Natalia reached out and squeezed her daughter’s hand. Natalia reminded Blaze to have faith.

Blaze admitted that she felt a lot better and thanked her mother for listening. Blaze pointed out that Natalia hadn’t shuddered once when Blaze had called Kristina her girlfriend. Natalia promised that she was trying. “No, you’re succeeding—and that is everything,” Blaze said. Moments later, Jordan called to give Blaze an update.

At the hospital, T.J. broke the news to Molly that Kristina had been hurt and was in surgery, having an emergency cesarean section. Alarmed, Molly asked if her sister and the baby would be okay, but T.J. didn’t have an answer. Alexis walked over and guided Molly to the seating area. Alexis explained that Kristina had fallen multiple stories from Metro Court’s north tower and landed in the pool. Alexis added that Kristina had sustained multiple injuries, so T.J. assured Molly that the surgeon was trying to save both Kristina and the baby.

T.J. admitted that he didn’t understand why Kristina had been at the hotel. Alexis revealed that Dante had told her that Kristina had been in Ava’s suite, but Alexis had no idea why. “I know why,” Molly said as she looked at Sonny.

In Kristina’s hospital room, Kristina’s eyes fluttered open as a nurse assured Dr. Park that Kristina’s vitals had stabilized. Dr. Park wanted Kristina to rest. “I’ll notify the family that the baby didn’t make it,” Dr. Park said. When the nurse realized that Kristina was awake, she alerted Dr. Park. “Where’s my baby?” Kristina asked in a weak voice. Dr. Park explained that he would give Kristina a mild sedative to help her relax, but Kristina wanted to know about the baby.

Dr. Park gently explained that the baby’s injuries had been too severe, and “she” hadn’t survived. Devastated, Kristina tearfully asked to see her sister because she wanted to be the one to tell Molly about the baby. A short time later, Dr. Park approached the family to let everyone know that Kristina was awake and had been moved into ICU. After Dr. Park sent Molly to Kristina’s room, T.J. asked about the baby. Dr. Park revealed that Kristina had sustained an abrupted placenta from the fall, and despite their efforts, they had been unable to save the baby.

Meanwhile, Molly entered Kristina’s room. Kristina’s eyes filled with fresh tears when she saw her sister. Kristina struggled to find the words. “Our precious little girl is gone,” Kristina said in a heartbroken voice. As Molly began to weep, Kristina apologized. Molly stopped Kristina. “You just need to rest,” Molly said.

In the waiting area, Jordan checked on her son. T.J. was reluctant to open up, but Jordan assured him that he could say anything to her, no matter how bad it was. T.J. confided that he couldn’t stop thinking about what Kristina had been doing at Metro Court. Jordan pointed out that T.J. and Molly had suffered a great loss, so T.J. was entitled to his feelings, regardless of what they were. T.J. confessed that his first instinct had been to blame Kristina. “That whatever happened is her fault,” T.J. said.

T.J. revealed that his mind was screaming at him, “I told you so,” because it had warned him not to trust Kristina. T.J. hated it, but his child was gone, and he couldn’t make the anger stop.

Nearby, Dante arrived and asked Alexis about Kristina and the baby. After she shared the heartbreaking news, she went to call Sam. Dante walked over to talk to his father. Sonny accused Ava and “Jagger” of trying to take Avery away from him, and he vowed to make them pay if they had been responsible for Kristina’s situation. When Alexis returned, Dante asked about Sam. Alexis shared that Sam had been devasted.

Moments later, Molly walked out of Kristina’s ICU room. She ran into her mother’s open arms and cried. “The baby was a girl,” Molly said. Molly pulled away and told Alexis that Kristina needed Alexis. Alexis entered Kristina’s room, while T.J. comforted Molly. “We had a daughter?” T.J. asked. “We did,” Molly tearfully replied.

Sonny walked to the door to Kristina’s room, but Molly darted over and blocked the way. She angrily informed Sonny that he was not to go near her sister because Sonny was the reason that Kristina had nearly died. Sonny denied it, but Molly told him that Kristina had gone to see Ava because Ava had subpoenaed Kristina to testify at the custody hearing. Molly explained that Ava had wanted Kristina to tell the world what a violent thug Sonny was and to share the details of Sonny’s attack on a police cadet at a wedding reception.

Sonny told Molly that he was sorry for the loss of her daughter, but he didn’t know what he would do if anything happened to Kristina. Furious, Molly insisted that Kristina had gone to see Ava because of Sonny. “Kristina almost died because of you! My daughter is dead because of you!” Molly angrily shouted. Shaken, Sonny walked away.

After Jordan called Blaze, she pulled Dante aside to ask him about the investigation, but Dante reminded her that he couldn’t share any information because she was a family member. Jordan pointed out that Dante was also family, so he conceded that he’d been sidelined from the investigation.

Nearby, Molly and T.J. comforted each other as they grieved the loss of their daughter.

In Kristina’s room, Alexis hugged her daughter and assured Kristina that they would get through the loss together. Kristina’s eyes suddenly drifted closed, and the alarms on her monitors blared. Alexis ran out of the room, calling for help.

On the hospital’s rooftop, Sonny stood by the ledge as his thoughts drifted to a recent argument with Dante when Dante had confronted Sonny about attacking Dex. Sonny had accused Dante of forsaking him, but Dante had argued that he’d been trying to save his father. However, Dante was done protecting Sonny, and it was time for Sonny to face the consequences of his crimes.

Sonny’s thoughts turned to Kristina and how upset she’d been when she’d seen him beat up Dex and how she'd fled to the bathroom in fear. Sonny recalled assuring Kristina that she had no reason to fear him, but Kristina had tearfully asked her father to leave. Sonny also recalled Josslyn angrily confronting him about what he’d done to Dex and shouting that she hated Sonny. Next, Sonny remembered Anna warning him that his days of getting away with crimes were over.

Finally, Molly’s recent accusations rang in Sonny’s ears as he looked over the ledge at the street below.

Morgan saves Sonny's life

Morgan saves Sonny's life

Tuesday, August 6, 2024

On the General Hospital roof, Sonny's mental health crisis became more intense as he condidered taking his life. Just then, Morgan's spirit arrived to talk with his father. "Dad, what are you doing?" Morgan asked. Sonny knew Morgan wasn't real, but Morgan reminded Sonny that he loved Sonny. Sonny said he was tired of trying to hide the darkness inside him. He said that in the past, his children had make him feel like his life had been worth saving, but he wasn't sure anymore.

Morgan assured Sonny that his life was worth something, but Sonny was haunted by Kristina's reaction when she'd seen him beat up Dex. Sonny was horrified that Kristina had been terrified and had run from him. Morgan reminded Sonny how Kristina had returned, but Sonny felt she should have kept running. "If she kept running, the baby would still be alive," Sonny said.

Morgan assured Sonny that his kids weren't scared of him. "Are you perfect? No. No parent's perfect, but we know deep down that you want the best for all of us," Morgan said. Sonny felt like he'd failed as a father, but Morgan disagreed. Sonny wondered how Morgan could say that when Sonny had been responsible for Morgan's death.

Morgan told Sonny that his death was Ava's fault because Ava was the one who had made sure he hadn't been taking his bipolar medications because she had replaced them with placebos. Sonny recalled all the horrible things that had happened to his other children because of him. He felt he would finally be doing the right thing if he ended his life.

As Sonny contemplated suicide, Morgan desperately tried to get him to see that his kids and his grandkids still needed him. "I am helping all my kids by keeping them safe. From me," Sonny said.

Downstairs, Laura surprised Kevin in his office with a small cake and candle for his birthday. "You deserve to be celebrated," Laura told him. She said she'd had a whole birthday celebration planned but had gotten stuck in a meeting, so the small cake was all she'd been able to manage.

Kevin said he didn't mind because he'd been asked to do a last-minute patient evaluation, so at least he wouldn't have been called away when they'd been out to dinner. Laura then presented Kevin with his gift—tickets to a Broadway show for a night in New York City in the fall.

After Laura left, Kevin packed up for the night, ready to leave his office. Before he could walk out, Sonny appeared. "I need help. Something is wrong with me, and I can't take it anymore," Sonny said.

Elsewhere in the hospital, Kristina was rushed into surgery because she had begun to bleed internally. Jordan comforted T.J., who choked back tears as he was reminded of all the things he would miss with his daughter. He'd never even get to hold her or hear her laugh. Just then, the nurse had an update. If the doctor was unable to stop the bleeding, Kristina might need a hysterectomy.

Molly worried that carrying a baby for her and T.J. might have cost Kristina the opportunity to have her own child one day. Sam assured Molly that it wasn't Molly's fault, and it was all due to a horrible accident.

Later, Dante did his best to support Sam, who admitted she was furious with Ava. Dante told Sam that Ava had insisted she had never laid a hand on Kristina, but Sam didn't believe it for a second. "Ava is a human wrecking ball, and she needs to be stopped. Because of Ava, I lost a little niece, and my little sisters are broken" Sam said.

On another couch in the waiting area, Molly and T.J. tried to be strong for one another. Molly wished she had a time machine to keep Kristina from going to Ava's hotel suite, but T.J. wanted to give their baby a name so they could lay her to rest. Before Molly could respond, the doctor arrived to tell them they'd gotten Kristina's bleeding under control without a hysterectomy.

Alexis went into Krisitna's room to sit with her unconscious daughter and tried to keep it together. "Thank you for pulling through, because a world without you in it is unfathomable to me," Alexis said as she finally broke down in tears. Molly soon knocked on the window, so Alexis let her in to stay with her sister.

Finally, Kristina woke. Through tears, Kristina kept apologizing for losing the baby she had planned to give to Molly and T.J.

Dante returned to comforting Sam, who remembered losing her first child, Lila, after a placental abruption, the same thing Kristina had suffered. "You've already built a life with them with the two of you together, and then, in an instant, it's gone," Sam said.

Jason was at Carly's place when Dante called to tell Jason that Sonny needed him. After Jason told Carly that Kristina had fallen though a window at Metro Court and that she had lost the baby, he headed to the hospital. Later, Donna entered the kitchen because she was unable to sleep, so Carly invited Donna to sit with her. Donna was worried that her dad had missed their playdate because things weren't good between Carly and Sonny. Carly assured Donna that Sonny would always be there for her.

When Jason got to the hospital, Dante updated him on Kristina. Jason asked about Sonny, so Dante told him that Sonny had left because Molly had blamed Sonny for Kristina losing the baby. Jason promised to track down Sonny and keep Dante posted.

The first thing Jason did was call Brick to see if Sonny had called him. Brick had not heard from Sonny, but Brick revealed that he'd been instructed to keep an eye on Ava's hotel room and had picutres of the confrontation between Ava and Kristina. Jason asked to see the photos, but Brick reminded Jason that Jason was no longer in the "circle of trust." Jason was adamant that he would always protect Sonny and Sonny's family. Satisfied, Brick sent the photos to Jason.

At the Port Charles Police Station, Chase and Anna were shocked when they learned that Kristina's baby had died, which made things much more complicated for Ava. Chase and Anna also had more questions for Ava. They wanted to know why John's luggage had been found in the closet of her Metro Court suite.

Ava lied and told Anna and Chase that she was allowing John to leave his stuff in her room after Carly had kicked him out of his. Ava said she hadn't felt the need to mention it in her statement. She said she also didn't want Sonny's lawyers to learn she had an association with John. Scott didn't see how any of that had to do with Kristina's accident.

While Scott tried to find a judge who would order Ava's release, Jason arrived to show Anna the incriminating photos that Brick had sent. Anna went back to Ava with the evidence that Ava had been lying about not having physical contact with Kristina. Ava was shocked when Anna arrested Ava and informed her that the baby had died.

Josslyn woke up in Dex’s bed and found him awake and watching her. After they shared an affectionate kiss, Dex told her that Kristina had pulled through, but he had no news about the baby. Dex wondered if there was anything else that he could do for Josslyn. “You’re already doing it,” she assured him. Dex had to get ready for work, but he offered to make coffee. When Josslyn suggested they skip coffee, Dex smiled and kissed her.

At T.J. and Molly’s apartment, T.J. was on his laptop, making funeral arrangements for his daughter, when Molly entered the living room, looking for her briefcase. T.J. was surprised when he realized that she intended to go to work. Molly claimed that she was needed there, but T.J. objected. “I need you more,” he told her. Molly reminded T.J. that he would not be alone, since Jordan, Curtis, and Stella would be stopping by to help pack up the baby’s nursery. T.J. wanted Molly to stay, but she couldn’t because the nursery represented a future that she and T.J. would never have.

Molly became choked up as she explained that she couldn’t physically get rid of their daughter’s things. T.J. was understanding, but he reminded her that they had to make some important decisions, including naming their daughter and making funeral arrangements. Molly balked, but a knock at the door cut the conversation short. When Molly opened the door, Jordan immediately noticed the briefcase in Molly’s hand. Molly insisted that she had to run to work, but she promised it would only be an hour.

After Molly bolted, Jordan wondered if Molly was okay. “How can she be?” T.J. asked. Later, Curtis and Stella arrived. After T.J. received hugs from his family, Stella and Jordan decided to fix something to eat. When Curtis mentioned Molly’s absence, T.J. admitted that she’d shut down his efforts to talk about the baby. Curtis explained that people dealt with grief differently, but T.J. worried that Molly wasn’t dealing with it at all.

Later, T.J. pushed his plate of barely touched food away. He assured his aunt that it was delicious, but he had no appetite. With a little prodding from his family, T.J. opened up about how he was feeling. His temper flared when he talked about Sonny’s custody battle. “I feel like such an idiot!” T.J. shouted in frustration. He explained that he blamed Sonny for the tragedy.

After the baby’s things were packed up and boxed for the shelter, Stella urged T.J. to pick a keepsake because he might want something to remember his daughter. Reluctantly, T.J. reached into one of the boxes. Moments later, Curtis and Jordan each carried a box to the car, leaving Stella alone with T.J. Stella encouraged T.J. not to hold back, because the only way past the pain was through it. She explained that grief was love without a place to put it. T.J.’s eyes filled with tears as Stella assured him that his family was there to help him.

T.J. admitted that he wasn’t ready to let his daughter go. Stella hugged him. “You don’t have to be, baby,” she assured him. She promised that they would cross that bridge together.

In the hallway, Curtis found Jordan crying. After he comforted her with a hug, Jordan admitted that she couldn’t stand to see her son in pain, and she would do anything to take it away. Curtis felt the same, but he reminded her all they could do was be there for T.J. and support him. “Like his domestic partner?” Jordan angrily asked. She quickly apologized, but she couldn’t understand why Molly wasn’t with T.J.

Curtis agreed that Molly and T.J. should be together, but Curtis was certain that Molly would return soon. Curtis offered Jordan his condolences because he knew that Jordan had had hopes and dreams for her granddaughter. Moments later, they entered the apartment. T.J. thanked his family for being there, but he confessed that he needed some time alone. After everyone left, T.J. set aside the last box of his daughter’s things.

T.J.’s eyes filled with fresh tears as he pulled a pair of baby booties out of his pocket. He slid to the floor with his back to the door and wept inconsolably.

At Carly’s house, Jason asked Carly how Avery was doing. Carly assured him that everything was good, and Avery was fine. She explained that Avery was there all the time, so it wasn’t out of the ordinary for Avery to spend the night there. Their conversation turned to Sonny because Carly was happy that Sonny had reached out to Kevin for help. Carly was also encouraged because Sonny had asked Jason to take Sonny home. Jason admitted that Kristina’s tragedy had hit Sonny hard, but Sonny had been quiet during the drive home.

“Sonny’s coming back to us. I know he is,” a teary-eyed Carly said. However, Carly couldn’t understand why Kristina had been in Ava’s suite. Jason revealed that he’d learned from Dante that Ava had subpoenaed Kristina to testify at the custody hearing. “Because Kristina saw Sonny go after Dex,” Carly speculated. Carly couldn’t understand how Ava had pushed Kristina hard enough to break through a window.

Jason didn’t have an answer, but he was certain that Kristina had been in Ava’s room to defend Sonny. Shortly after Jason left, Josslyn arrived. Carly hugged her daughter and admitted that she’d been worried about Josslyn. Carly knew it had been hard for Josslyn to see Kristina fall into the pool, but Carly was proud of Josslyn’s courageous actions. When Carly assumed Josslyn had decompressed with Trina, Josslyn confessed that she’d spent the night with Dex. Josslyn revealed that she’d gone to Dex because he'd been the first person she had thought of as she'd left the hospital, and because he made her feel safe.

Carly asked if Josslyn and Dex were back together, but Donna walked into the kitchen and happily greeted her sister with a hug. Afterwards, Donna asked if Josslyn wanted some of Sonny’s vitamins. Carly frowned and asked what Donna was referring to. Josslyn and Carly were horrified when Donna held up a prescription bottle of lithium. Carly asked if Donna had taken any. “A bunch,” Donna replied.

At Sonny’s penthouse, Sonny greeted Kevin. Kevin had stopped by to check on Sonny, so Sonny admitted that his mind felt clearer. Kevin was pleased because it meant the medication had begun to work, but Kevin remained concerned about Sonny’s emotional state. Kevin and Sonny talked about the previous night and how Kristina’s fall and the loss of the baby had sent Sonny to the dark side. Sonny also admitted that Molly’s accusations had made him realize that he was responsible for the tragedy. Kevin imagined it had been hard for Sonny to hear that from Molly.

Sonny admitted that Carly and Jason had figured out months earlier that something was off with him because they had noticed that Sonny hadn’t been thinking clearly and no longer trusted them. Kevin agreed that it was unusual for Sonny not to trust Carly and Jason. Sonny conceded that it had been a warning sign, but Sonny hadn’t seen what Carly and Jason had. However, that had changed the previous night when Sonny had felt that something was really wrong with him.

Kevin revealed that he had put a rush on the blood tests and had the results. “There was no Lorphenadine or lithium in your system,” Kevin said. Shocked, Sonny admitted it didn’t make sense because he’d been taking his medications daily like clockwork. Kevin suggested they schedule some sessions until Sonny’s medications were recalibrated and he was stabilized. Sonny agreed, but he was glad there had been a “physical” reason for his highs and lows.

After Kevin left, Jason arrived. Sonny thanked Jason for driving him home the previous night. Sonny was curious if Jason had any questions, but Jason explained that he was there to listen if Sonny wanted to talk. Sonny shared that he had talked to Alexis earlier, and Kristina was resting comfortably after surgery. However, Sonny admitted that it would be harder for his daughter to deal with the emotional toll of losing the baby.

Jason reminded Sonny that Kristina had people to support and help her. Their conversation turned to Molly’s accusations. Sonny revealed that Molly’s words had hit him hard. “I always hurt the people that I love,” Sonny said. Sonny opened up about going to the hospital’s rooftop to end his life because Sonny hoped to spare his family further pain. “What stopped you?” Jason asked. “Morgan,” Sonny quietly confessed.

Sonny credited Morgan with stopping him from jumping. Jason suggested the manifestation of Morgan had been a part of Sonny that knew something was wrong. Sonny agreed, which had led Sonny to go to Kevin. Jason was glad, but Sonny confided that Jason was the only person who knew about Sonny seeing Morgan.

Meanwhile, Ava sat in jail, complaining about the breakfast she’d been served. Her mood improved when Trina arrived for a visit. Trina admitted that she’d been worried that Ava wouldn’t want to see her because Trina was the reason that Ava was in jail. Ava pointed out that Trina had only answered some questions, but she rushed to assure Trina that Kristina’s fall had been a terrible accident. “Was it an accident -- or did you push Kristina?” Trina asked.

Ava stuck to her story, denying any responsibility for the fall and accusing Kristina of being “manic” and “in a rage.” Ava insisted that it had been an accident, and it had happened too fast for Ava to react. Trina asked why Ava had been arrested, so Ava claimed that she was a convenient scapegoat because no one liked her and no one wanted to blame the mother who had lost a child. “I’m completely innocent,” Ava professed.

Later, Molly and Dex arrived. Molly explained that Dex was an “impartial witness” because an assistant district attorney couldn’t speak to an accused without a third party present. Ava asked about Kristina, so Molly shared that Kristina had made it through surgery, but the baby hadn’t. Ava offered her condolences on the loss of Molly’s baby, but Molly was unmoved. Instead, Molly pulled out the autopsy report for the baby.

Ava didn’t want to hear it, but Molly read the file aloud, revealing that the baby had weighed just over five pounds and had died shortly after being delivered by emergency C-section. Ava begged Molly not to continue, but Molly ignored her. Molly shared that the external examination had shown numerous signs of blunt force trauma to the baby’s head and body. “The infant died from internal bleeding caused by blunt force trauma to the head and body,” Molly added.

Molly angrily blamed Ava for the baby’s death. “I could never intentionally hurt a child,” Ava cried. Molly pointed out that Ava had been charged with manslaughter instead of murder. “You didn’t plan to kill my daughter, but your actions led to her death,” Molly accused. Molly urged Ava to do the right thing by pleading guilty and sparing everyone the pain of a trial. “I’ve done nothing wrong,” Ava argued.

Molly turned her back on Ava, but Ava desperately asked Molly to ask herself why Kristina had been in Ava’s suite. Ava insisted that Kristina had shown up uninvited and attacked Ava, which had resulted in Kristina tripping. Ava was adamant that she was not responsible for the baby’s death. “Kristina is,” Ava said.

After Molly left, Kevin paid Ava a visit. Ava continued to deny responsibility for the tragedy and put all the blame on Kristina. Kevin said little until Ava mentioned being worried about Avery. He assured her that Avery was fine and had spent the night at Carly’s house. Ava insisted that Avery needed her mother because Sonny was out of control and couldn’t be counted on to care for Avery. To Kevin’s surprise, Ava asked Kevin to attend her arraignment and speak on her behalf as a medical professional.

Ava explained that she needed Kevin to tell a judge that she should be granted bail and emergency custody because Avery’s well-being depended on it. Kevin assured Ava that she could rest easy because Sonny wouldn’t be a concern. “He’s gotten treatment,” Kevin said. Ava tensed and asked Kevin to elaborate, but he admitted it would violate doctor/patient confidentiality. Kevin assured Ava that Avery was safe, and Sonny was not a danger. After Kevin excused himself to take a phone call, Ava overheard him ask if there was a problem with Sonny’s medication.

At T.J. and Molly’s apartment, Molly stood in the hallway in front of her door. She debated entering, but ultimately turned around and left.

At the hospital’s nurses’ station, Portia praised Elizabeth for proposing changes to the nurses’ schedule. Portia shared that both she and Terry had loved Elizabeth’s ideas. Portia told Elizabeth to keep up the good work because Elizabeth had been doing a fantastic job. Elizabeth admitted that she had learned from the best -- Epiphany Johnson.

After Portia went to her office, Trina stopped by for a talk. Trina confessed that she couldn’t stop thinking about Kristina because Kristina had been doing an amazing thing for Molly and T.J., only for the baby to die before it could be safely delivered. Portia admitted that Ava shouldered the blame for what had happened, but she couldn’t understand how Ava had pushed Kristina hard enough for Kristina to fall out a window. “That’s not what happened,” Trina blurted out.

Portia was not happy when she learned that Trina had gone to see Ava in jail. Trina explained that she had felt guilty about giving a statement, even though Trina hadn’t seen much of what had led to Kristina falling out the window. Trina admitted that people always thought the worst of Ava. Trina knew another side, and she was certain that Ava would never purposefully hurt a child. Trina reminded Portia that Ava had been there for Trina when Spencer had died.

“I don’t want to abandon her,” Trina said. Portia was curious what Ava had said, so Trina conceded that Ava had denied any wrongdoing. Portia pointed out that Kristina had clearly not jumped. Trina admitted that she had some doubts because Ava had seemed off during their visit, but Trina had attributed it to Ava spending the night in jail. Portia asked who was more likely to lie -- Ava or Kristina.

“Why? Did Kristina say that Ava pushed her?” Trina asked. Portia reminded Trina that Ava had been arrested, which meant the police had evidence pointing to Ava’s guilt. Moments later, Portia received a call. After a brief exchange, Portia ended the call and advised Trina to leave because Pentonville had sent Heather to the hospital for a follow-up appointment. Meanwhile, Carly arrived at the hospital with Donna and Josslyn. Carly quickly filled Elizabeth in on Donna’s emergency, so Elizabeth led Carly and Donna to an examination room. Josslyn handed Elizabeth the bottle of pills that Donna had found. Afterwards, Josslyn called Sonny to let him know that Donna was in the hospital.

A short time later, Sonny and Jason arrived. Sonny thanked Josslyn for calling him. “You’re the dad,” Josslyn said. Carly revealed that Donna had to have her stomach pumped. Sonny wanted to know what had happened, so Carly shared that Donna had found a bottle of Sonny’s medication in Avery’s overnight bag and taken them without anyone noticing. When Elizabeth emerged from Donna’s hospital room, she assured everyone that Donna would be fine.

Elizabeth explained that Donna was still groggy from anesthesia and would have a sore throat, but Donna was doing great. Jason sensed there was more, so Elizabeth revealed that the medication in the bottle had been tested, but the pills hadn’t contained medication of any kind. Elizabeth also shared that there hadn’t been any medication in Donna’s system. “You’re telling me I’ve been taking placebos?” Sonny asked.

Sonny and Carly checked on Donna, who complained of a sore throat. She asked for some popsicles, which signaled that she was feeling better. Donna also worried that she was in trouble for eating Sonny's "vitamins." Sonny assured Donna she wasn't in trouble. Carly warned Donna never to swallow medication again unless an adult was with her.

Carly explained that they would be going home soon, but Sonny was staying at the hospital to be there with Kristina. Donna suggested getting two popsicles—one for Kristina and one for the baby.

Sonny, Carly, and Donna ran into Jason at the elevator. Jason offered to take Carly and Donna home, but Carly wanted him to stay with Sonny. When Carly and Donna were gone, Sonny admitted he should have listened to Jason when Jason had known something was off with his medications. Sonny was relieved to know what was really going on with Sonny's medication but wanted Jason to help him find out who had switched them with placebos.

Jason then showed Sonny the incriminating photos Brick had taken. Sonny was furious to see that Ava had gotten physical with Kristina. Sonny suddenly realized that Ava was the one who had switched his meds, since she had already done it to Morgan years earlier. Sonny then asked Jason to visit Ava and see what she had to say.

Kristina woke with a start after dreaming about holding the baby she'd just lost. Reality hit as she still felt the pain from her C-section and touched her empty abdomen. Kristina broke down in tears. Alexis walked in.

Kristina told Alexis about her dream. Kristina said she'd been holding the baby in her arms, and then, she'd just been gone. "I carried her for eight-and-a-half months, and I will never get to hold her. I will never even get to see her except for in my dreams. Forever," Kristina cried.

Felicia soon stopped by in her position as a patient advocate. She offered Kristina hospital resources, including counseling and grief support groups. Kristina didn't say a word and wouldn't even look at Felicia. After Felicia left, Alexis tried to comfort her daughter. Kristina just wanted to know why it had happened.

Kristina then referred to "my baby" and said she could finally feel that she was the baby's mother. "I felt her. I knew her. She was real. She was mine. She was my baby," Kristina said as she cried.

Alexis left Kristina to sleep and ran into Sonny in the hallway. Sonny informed Alexis that he was getting help for his mental health issues and that he could keep it together for Kristina. He also let Alexis know that Ava was responsible for everything, and he had the proof.

"That awful, hateful, obscene woman," was all Alexis could manage when Sonny told her about the photos. Alexis asked Sonny to stay with Kristina while she got some air.

When Sonny entered Kristina's room, he kissed her forehead and asked what she needed. Kristina had a simple answer. "I need you to make Ava pay for what she did to my baby," she said.

Anna welcomed John into her office and bluntly asked him what the nature of his relationship with Ava was. John insisted that Ava was just a friend. Anna informed John that Ava was in custody after being charged with assault, attempted murder, and manslaughter. John was shocked by the news but tried avoiding Anna's questions.

Since Anna wasn't getting the answers she wanted, she speculated instead. "You think Ava is an ally against Sonny—maybe even the vehicle to bring him down. If that's the case, you're mistaken," Anna said. John accused Anna of being a Sonny apologist and demanded that she stay out of his way "because nothing will keep me from taking Sonny down."

Ava called for the guard, insisting that she had to make a phone call, but John showed up instead. She reiterated that what had happened to Kristina had been an accident. Ava feared that Sonny would come after both her and John, and John wondered why. He was floored to learn that Kristina had tripped over his duffel bag, which had led to her fall out the window. Ava warned John that it was only a matter of time before Sonny would somehow find out.

John was further stunned to learn that Kevin was treating Sonny and would learn about the placebos. Ava was sure that Sonny would blame her—and John by association. Ava also claimed to be worried about the pharmacist and asked John to warn the pharmacist to run. Ava didn't want the pharmacist to tell Sonny she had been to his office. John assured Ava that "Sonny's days of trampling people are about to come to an end."

John left just before Jason arrived. All Jason did was silently stare as Ava called for the guards. Jason told Ava that nobody was coming to help her. She insisted that everything that had happened with Kristina had been an accident. Ava suggested that the photos could have been manipulated. "Sonny would do anything to get rid of me. He's violent and erratic," she said.

Jason told Ava that they knew why, and he accused Ava of switching Sonny's medication for placebos. Ava swore she hadn't switched the meds, but she had known about it. Ava said she had learned about the switch by accident but had just kept things quiet. Jason wanted to know who had done it, but Ava said, "The only thing keeping me alive right now is what I know and what Sonny doesn't."

Back at the hospital, John found the pharmacist, flashed his badge, and asked the pharmacist to go with him.

After Carly settled Donna in at home, Anna dropped in. Anna was surprised to learn that Donna had been in the hospital. Carly explained what had happened to Donna. She informed Anna that Donna had only swallowed placebos. Carly suspected that Sonny had been unknowingly taking placebos since January. Anna finally understood Sonny's behavior, but she added that it wasn't an excuse.

Carly insisted that Ava had to have been the one who'd switched the medications, but Anna wanted proof. Carly accused Ava of isolating Sonny from those close to him. Anna agreed that Ava's behavior with Sonny had been odd, but that wasn't hard evidence.

Trina was surprised when she saw a guard wheel Heather off the hospital elevator. Heather tried talking to Trina, but Portia stopped her. Heather claimed that she wanted to apologize, but Portia warned her that Trina was off-limits. After the guard took Heather to an exam room, Trina chastised Portia for her behavior.

Portia explained that she was just trying to protect Trina, but Trina didn't think she needed protection from a handcuffed Heather. Portia pointed out that Heather had escaped from the hospital before, but Trina remained frustrated. Trina reminded Portia that as co-chief of staff, she couldn't afford to go off on patients, even if the patient was Heather.

Trina said she wasn't worried about Heather. She was more concerned with Portia. "Don't let your hatred consume you. At this point, it's way worse for you than it is for her. Mom, you gotta let this go," Trina said.

Later, when Portia told a nurse she wanted Heather checked and discharged as soon as possible, Felicia stepped in. Felicia didn't like the idea of rushing a patient in and out, even if that patient was Heather. Portia said that Felicia was overstepping, but Felicia insisted she was a patient advocate and was just doing her job. Portia threw Ryan Chamberlain in Felicia's face and wondered if Felicia would have gone to bat for him.

Elsewhere in the hospital, Scott arrived to check up on Heather. She was happy to see her ex but wanted to know why he was there. Scott said he wasn't her attorney, but he was ready to take on the job. He was intrigued by Heather's case and wanted to see if he could get her sentence reduced.

Heather wasn't sure she could trust Scott, but he pointed out that she was sort of family, since they had shared Franco. Heather accused Scott of using the "dead son card" and wondered what was really in it for him to represent her. Scott told Heather that the company that had manufactured her artificial hip had a lot of money, and they could sue.

Heather wondered how money could benefit her from prison, so Scott declared that she wouldn't be behind bars much longer. He was sure he could get her out on the cobalt poisoning defense. Heather wasn't sure, but Scott asked Heather if she wanted to be in prison for the rest of her life or spend her remaining years with Ace. Heather said she had to think about it, so Scott left.

Once Heather was alone, Trina stopped in so Heather could say what she'd wanted to earlier when Portia had interrupted. Heather told Trina how sorry she was, although she knew the words would seem hollow. Heather insisted she meant every word. "Now I know what I did, and I will regret that for the rest of my life," Heather said. Heather also apologized for Esme's actions.

Trina refused to accept Heather's apology, but Trina assured Heather she wasn't going to walk around scared anymore. Trina also wanted Heather to have her day in court. "And I pray that justice is served in the end. And I pray that nobody ever gets hurt by you again," Trina said.

Elizabeth informed Heather that she expected Heather's test results to come back fine, so Heather would be discharged soon. Heather made a joke about being back in Pentonville in time for mahjong. Heather also thanked Elizabeth for bringing her extra food from the cafeteria.

When Elizabeth returned to the nurses' station, Laura arrived to see Kevin, but he was busy. When Elizabeth said that she'd thought Laura was there to see Heather, Laura was surprised. Laura said she'd had no idea that Heather was even there, and Laura wanted to visit. Elizabeth suggested that Laura wait for another day.

Laura asked what was wrong with Heather, so Elizabeth explained that she was concerned about Heather's mental state. Elizabeth said that Heather seemed depressed. "She's not her usual chaotic self. I want to see if a psychiatrist can chat with her," Elizabeth said.

Laura suggested that she chat with Heather before Elizabeth made any calls. Laura had an idea how to cheer Heather up. Laura popped into Heather's room to show her pictures of Ace, which made Heather smile. Heather said she thought Ace was starting to look like her.

After Laura put her phone away, she asked how Heather was feeling. Heather told Laura about her visit with Trina. Heather said she was pleased that Trina had listened to her apology, but Heather added that she understood why Trina hadn't accepted it. Heather admitted that she had been thinking about her future.

Laura assured Heather that she would respect Heather's wishes and not reopen Heather's case. Heather wondered aloud if Laura would even visit anymore. Laura promised she would visit regularly and give Heather updates on Ace.

When Laura later approached the GH elevators, Portia walked up and thanked her for agreeing to not reopen Heather's case. Laura asked Portia not to thank her. Laura explained that she wasn't reopening the case because Heather had asked her not to.

Laura visited Kevin next and told him that Heather was worried that Laura would abandon her and stop visiting. Kevin said he thought Heather was facing the reality of her situation.

Back in her room, Heather was still quiet and sad when Elizabeth returned with vanilla pudding. Heather wondered aloud whether everything she'd done had been her fault. "Is justice really done if I am the only one who pays?" Heather asked Elizabeth.

Elizabeth diplomatically said she saw Heather's point and understood that Heather missed Ace. Heather brought up the idea of compensation for receivng a faulty hip, making Elizabeth uncomfortable. Elizabeth started to leave, but Heather stopped her and asked if Elizabeth had seen Scott. Elizabeth said she hadn't seen him and didn't think Scott would return before Heather was discharged. Heather asked Elizabeth to call Scott and give him a two-word message: "Heather's in."

At the Metro Court restaurant, Nina thanked Michael for their working lunch. They both couldn't wait to see how well the latest issue of Crimson would do. Michael commented that he thought Willow would enjoy it. Nina appreciated Michael agreeing to her recent editorial requests. Michael explained that he wanted to show how much he appreciated everything Nina had done for Willow recently.

Nina was pleased and touted Willow's virtues while saying she was impressed by how well Willow was doing as a cancer-surviving spokesperson for the New Tomorrow Institute. Michael said he was grateful to Drew for giving Willow a new career opportunity because it had given Willow more time with the children.

Meanwhile, Drew and Willow ran into each other in the Metro Court elevator and made awkward small talk. Willow explained that she was heading to Crimson to pick out something to wear for her meeting with the New Tomorrow board of directors. Drew was preparing to give Willow good news from the institute when the elevator suddenly lurched to a stop.

Drew called Olivia to report the situation and was told they needed to wait until the elevator company arrived. Drew checked if Willow was okay before announcing that he was hot and asking if Willow minded if he took his jacket off. She didn't, so Drew removed his jacket, loosened his tie, and rolled up his sleeves while Willow stared at him intently.

Willow was happy when Drew told her how pleased the New Tomorrow Institute was with her public service announcements, but Willow wanted to give credit to Nina. Willow said Nina was making her feel more comfortable in front of a camera. Drew said he thought Willow was a natural. The director of the institute even wanted to fly Drew and Willow out to Los Angeles to meet with them. Willow quickly said she wouldn't be able to make the trip.

Willow explained that Wiley was starting full-day school soon and needed her at home. Willow told Drew if business trips were expected, then maybe she was in the wrong line of work. Drew assured her that trips were not a requirement of the job, but he wondered if he was the real reason that she didn't want to go. Willow reminded him that they had gotten past their kiss, and it would never happen again.

Just then, the elevator doors opened, and Nina saw Drew and Willow exit. Nina told Willow that Michael had taken the stairs and gone to the hospital to see Kristina, so Willow quickly excused herself and left. After Willow left to take the stairs, Nina turned to Drew and demanded to know what he had done to make Willow nervous. She warned Drew to leave Willow alone.

Congressman McConkey called and interrupted Drew and Nina. When Drew hung up, he told Nina that the congressman didn't think Drew had done enough to gain the school board's support. Nina offered to help and invited Drew to her place for dinner.

Alexis called Sam from outside Kristina's hospital room and told Sam to go to Scout's softball game, since Alexis would stay by Kristina's side. Afterwards, Alexis called Molly to say that she had been thinking about Molly and loved her.

When Alexis was off the phone, Kevin stopped to talk. He asked how Kristina was doing, and Alexis told him Kristina was improving. Kevin guessed that Alexis probably had not slept or eaten, and he suggested that she accept help when offered because it was important for Alexis to take care of herself.

In Kristina's hospital room, Sonny sat with his daugher and assured Krisitina that he would take care of Ava. He was reluctant to share any details, but he urged Kristina to rest and focus on her recovery. Kristina wasn't satisfied and needed reassurance that Ava would pay. "Dad, I need you to promise me you won't let Ava take another life like she took my daughter's," Kristina said.

Kristina went on to list Ava's litany of crimes, including killing Connie Falconeri and switching Morgan's bipolar medication. "When is Ava finally going to pay for everything she has done?" Kristina asked.

Sonny explained that payback didn't always fix things. He said he'd tried seeking revenge on Ava after Morgan had died, but it hadn't brought Morgan back. After Kristina frantically insisted that Ava had never paid for any horrible things she had done, Sonny informed Kristina that he had photographic proof that Ava had gotten physical with Kristina before Kristina had fallen out the window.

Kristina insisted on seeing the pictures. Sonny assured her that the police had copies of them. "She's not walking away from this," Sonny promised.

Kristina wasn't appeased because Ava would still be alive, even if she went to prison, while Kristina's baby would still be dead. Sonny assured Kristina that she would be okay, but Kristina disagreed. "I won't be okay until I know that Ava Jerome is no longer breathing," Kristina said.

As Sonny told Kristina that he would take care of Ava, Alexis walked in. Alexis asked what Sonny and Kristina had been talking about. Kristina said that she hoped Ava would have her day in court.

Alexis asked to speak with Sonny in the hall, so he followed her out. Alexis begged Sonny to tell her that Kristina hadn't asked Sonny to kill Ava. Sonny told Alexis not to worry about it, but he led her to the chapel to speak privately. Again, Alexis asked Sonny to assure her that he wouldn't grant Kristina's request. "She doesn't know what she's asking. If Ava dies or disappears, you will leave a forever mark on her soul," Alexis warned Sonny.

While Alexis and Sonny were in the chapel, Michael visited Kristina. She asked if Michael had the pictures of her and Ava. Michael said he did, and Kristina demanded that he send them to her. Michael agreed. As Kristina looked at the pictures again, she began to chastise herself for going to Ava's room. She said she wanted to go back in time, but Michael gently explained there was no point asking, "What if?"

After Michael left Kristina's room, Willow arrived. Michael asked Willow to talk to Kristina, since Willow knew what it was like to lose a child.
