Daytime Emmy-winning actress Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott, The Young and the Restless; ex-Kristen DiMera, Days of our Lives) is hard at work on a super soapy project. The actress is currently in the process of turning her Soap Opera Mystery novels into a TV show called Dial Emme for Murder.
The screenplay for the six-part series -- whose title was inspired by Davidson and Robert J. Randisi's 2009 novel Dial Emmy for Murder -- was written by Davidson and her niece Annamarie. It is set to star Davidson as actress Emmanuelle "Emme" Peterson, a successful soap star who finds herself smack dab in the middle of a whodunit.
Says an official description of the project, "Emmanuelle 'Emme' Peterson is a single mother, successful soap star, and just so happens to be addicted to true crime. So what if she occasionally sleeps with a younger co-star? When one of them is murdered, she must navigate the quirky, edgy waters of Hollywood. In a world of crazy casting directors, narcissistic actors, and over-the-top stage moms, Emme must solve the murder before she becomes the next victim."
Soap favorites Judith Chapman (Gloria Fisher, Y&R; ex-Anjelica Deveraux, DAYS; ex-Ginny Webber, General Hospital) and Donna Mills (ex-Madeline Reeves, GH; ex-Abby Ewing, Knots Landing) have signed on to costar in the project, as has primetime star Nancy Valen (ex-Melinda Weaver, Ryan's Hope).
As Soap Central previously reported, Davidson was approached to make Dial Emmy for Murder into a film back in 2017. Those plans fell through, but the actress has now partnered with the non-profit organization Palm Springs Women in Film and Television (PSWIFT), as well as the organization's president and director/producer, Kim Waltrip, to bring Dial Emme for Murder to the screen.
Founded in 2001, PSWIFT is dedicated to promoting its members in the entertainment and creative arts communities. In 2020, it launched a Filmmakers' Lab that helps members make films and series, one of which was the talk show PS After Dark, starring Tristan Rogers (Robert Scorpio, GH; ex-Colin Atkinson, Y&R).
Davidson's Dial Emme for Murder is the Filmmakers' Lab's next venture -- but the project still needs fans' help to get made! The actress and her team have launched a fundraising campaign on the project's new official website, which teases that the six-part series will be a funny, sexy whodunnit that will leave you "guessing 'til the very end." Davidson and Randisi's Soap Opera Mystery book series includes 2008's Death in Daytime, 2009's Dial Emmy for Murder, 2010's Diva Las Vegas, and 2011's Swinging in the Rain.
