Fans of The Young and the Restless were thisclose to seeing the return of one of Genoa City's early characters, Lauralee Brooks -- a.k.a. Lorie Brooks. But unfortunately, portrayer Jaime Lyn Bauer wasn't able to return as the character she originated in 1973, the same year the soap opera debuted.
The actress took to Facebook to share that Y&R asked her to reprise the role of Lorie for two episodes, but she was sadly unavailable during the taping period.
"Just got back from a month in Cancun. It was better than ever. So relaxing! Y&R had asked me to do two shows, but unfortunately they wanted to tape it in the middle of my Cancun vacation with family and friends already booked to join us so I said no," Bauer writes.
It's unclear what upcoming storyline Y&R's powers that be wanted Bauer to participate in, but chances are high that it involved Eric Braeden's upcoming 40th anniversary of playing Victor Newman. As longtime fans of the series may recall, Lorie and Victor were engaged in the early 80s, but she stood him up at the altar after getting what she really wanted, which was control of Prentiss Industries.
Bauer's run on Y&R lasted from 1973 to 1982, followed by returns in 1984, 2002, and 2018, the last of which was for the soap's 45th anniversary. The actress is also known for playing the role of Dr. Laura Spencer Horton on the NBC soap Days of our Lives, which she also returned to in 2018 for a brief run.
