The Young and the Restless was forced to temporarily recast the role of Summer Newman, usually played by Hunter King.

The Young and the Restless' Summer Newman will have a different face for a couple of episodes, as the CBS soap opera has had to replace Hunter King.

Actress Bayley Corman will be stepping into the role of Nick and Phyllis' daughter for three episodes starting on Monday, October 1, due to a scheduling conflict that arose with King's primetime series Life in Pieces, reports TV Line.

Some soap fans may recognize Corman from her guest appearances on primetime series like Faking It, 2 Broke Girls, Jane the Virgin, and Modern Family. The daytime newbie has also appeared in the films The Hatred and Christmas in Angel Falls and will appear in the pilot of The CW series All American, which debuts on Wednesday, October 10.

King made her debut as Summer in October of 2012 and was quickly upped to contract status with the soap. She dropped back down to recurring status with the series in 2016, however, because she was upped to a series regular at her primetime job, where she plays Clementine. King returned to contract status with Y&R in June of 2018 and has been involved in a front-burner storyline that has Summer stirring up all kinds of trouble (including trying to seduce her mother's boyfriend).

Fans who are worried about King's status with the soap shouldn't fret too much at this time; the recast is temporary and the newly engaged actress is scheduled to return to the screen on Thursday, October 4. Time will tell, however, whether or not her shooting schedule at Life in Pieces will continue to affect her role at Y&R.
