As reported earlier this month, Cole Thornart is returning to Llanview -- but his portrayer, Brandon Buddy, is not.

"I wanted to say that I am so sorry that I was unable to make a return to OLTL as I intended due to personal family issues," Buddy informed fans via Twitter. "I cherish the time that I had on the show and always will. The fans mean more to me than words can express. I'm devastated about this! Again I am so sorry! Thank you all for your love and support! It really helps me in times like this."

Buddy did not elaborate on the nature of his personal issues.

Buddy was able to tape a day's worth of scenes at One Life to Live, but the show has opted to scrap those scenes and retape them with a new actor.

Van Hughes will assume the role of Cole when the character resurfaces next month. Hughes previously appeared in minor roles on As the World Turns and One Life to Live.

Buddy exited One Life to Live in November 2010 amid a Twitter scandal in which someone reportedly hacked into Buddy's account and announced that he'd be exiting the show.
