Max Gail makes return visit to General Hospital

It looks like General Hospital's Sonny (Maurice Benard) will be getting a visit from his late pop, Mike. Max Gail is rumored to be returning to the ABC soap for a short appearance of a spiritual nature.

General Hospital fans said a heartbreaking goodbye to Max Gail when his character, Mike Corbin, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease earlier this year. But as is common in the land of soap operas, the tearful goodbye has turned out to be a not-so-final one. Sonny's dad is set for a return appearance on the ABC drama.

Soap Opera Digest reports that Gail has been spotted on set at GH and will be making "a ghostly appearance" as Mike in the near future. Unfortunately, no additional information has been revealed at this time, but Soap Central will let you know when more details become available!

Max Gail rose to fame playing Det. Stan "Wojo" Wojciehowicz in the 1970s sitcom Barney Miller. He joined the cast of GH as Sonny's ailing father in 2018 and won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor for his work on the soap in 2019.

Will Gail take home the Emmy award again in 2021? If so, the special moment won't happen in person, as the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) has announced that next year's Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony will once again be virtual. For more on that story, click here.

What do you think about Max Gail making a brief return to GH as Sonny's father, Mike? Why do you think Mike will reappear in Port Charles?
