GH's Wally Kurth and Lisa LoCicero on the future of Ned and Olivia's unconventional marriage

General Hospital's Wally Kurth (Ned Ashton) and Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri) dish on whether or not their alter egos' new marital status will be the "kiss of death" typically seen for married soap characters.

Soap opera weddings are almost always the stuff of legends (here's talking to you, Luke and Laura), but soap opera marriages usually leave a lot to be desired. So it's understandable that Wally Kurth (Ned Ashton) and Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri) -- as well as a few viewers -- could have had some reservations about their characters walking down the aisle. However, both actors say that Ned and Olivia's new relationship status is actually going to be good for the couple's storyline rather than the beginning of the end.

"People say, 'On a soap opera, getting married is death,' because you just become boring and there's no storyline for you, but it seems like we're the kind of couple that a wedding will be helpful to, that it could make for more story rather than less," LoCicero tells Soap Opera Digest.

And Kurth agrees, adding that the couple's connection is starting to look a lot like that of one of General Hospital's most beloved legacy pairs.

"In this case, I don't feel like getting married is the end of the story," he opines. "I love the fact that they are making us the new Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lawrence Quartermaine, sort of keeping that tradition of the Quartermaine name alive. I think it's great!"

He continues: "With Olivia and Ned, if there was an arc with their romance and the story of them getting together, it probably happened more off camera than on, and I think that that gives us room to explore a lot of the stuff that couples go through in a marriage. And let's face it: a lot of people go through more stuff in a marriage than they do before the marriage! Hopefully the writers can find some really interesting obstacles that are bound to come up when two people are married and living the life of the Quartermaines."
