Former General Hospital star Julie Berman (ex-Lulu Spencer) doesn't need help for acting, having wowed the daytime community and garnered three Daytime Emmy Awards during her ABC soap opera run. But she needs her fans' help now: the actress has launched a Kickstarter campaign for a comedic film, and she's relying on viewer support to reach the goal and get the movie finished.
Called Romantic Comedy, the film follows five superficial friends from L.A., struggling to find meaning, connection, and human intimacy over the course of a bacchanalian New Year's Eve weekend. During the trip, which takes place in the Sonoma Valley of Northern California, each character is forced to confront the ways in which they're failing to achieve real beauty in their lives. However, it being a comedy and all, one can bet that their epic failures will be anything but super serious.
The Emmy winner and her costars are reaching out to fans via a Kickstarter campaign page, asking for donations that will help in "paying [the] minimal crew a reasonable wage, providing them with food and lodging, the bare necessity equipment rentals, location permits, and insurance."
But most important, as Berman explains in a video on the Kickstarter page, she'd love for her fans to feel as if they're a part of the project, which the page describes as a labor of love.
