Vanessa Marcil gets Stranded in Paradise

Vanessa Marcil will be playing an unlucky career woman who suddenly finds herself lucky in love in the upcoming Hallmark Channel movie, Stranded in Paradise.

When GH viewers last saw Brenda Barrett, she was kissing Sonny Corinthos goodbye at the airport after (probably) not actually bedding Sonny's son, Michael. Brenda's portrayer, Emmy winner Vanessa Marcil, has some more romance in her future in Hallmark Channel's upcoming movie Stranded in Paradise.

Marcil will play Tess Nelson in the movie, which premieres August 9, 2014. Tess is a human resources executive who seems to have the perfect life until she's laid off from her job. Things get worse when her trip to a convention in Puerto Rico, where she hopes to land a new job, goes disastrously wrong.

However, the seemingly cursed trip takes a turn when Tess meets Carter McConnell (played by James Denton of Desperate Housewives). Tess realizes that taking an unanticipated risk could lead her to a happiness she never dreamed of.

Could this movie be followed by a return trip to Port Charles for the actress? Rumors to that effect have surfaced lately and Marcil has confirmed she'd be eager to return to the role if asked.

Stranded in Paradise is based on the Women of Faith Fiction Club novel of the same name by Lori Copeland. The movie will air on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 9PM Eastern.
