Ricky Paull Goldin inks short-term B&B role

Four-time Daytime Emmy nominee Ricky Paull Goldin is headed back to daytime -- but he won't be reprising his All My Children role. Goldin has inked a deal for an open-ended appearance on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Multi-soap vet Ricky Paull Goldin (ex-Jake Martin) is adding another soap to his résumé. The Emmy-nominated performer will join The Bold and the Beautiful for a non-contract role beginning in May.

Goldin is set to play Jesse, the father of Maya's child, who, according to a B&B rep, "will arrive on the scene, see Maya with Rick and immediately get jealous."

In an interview with TVGuide's Michael Logan, Goldin revealed that he declined an offer from Prospect Park to reprise his role as Jake on the company's All My Children relaunch because he has put his acting career on the backburner for the time being.

"I've pretty much put acting on hold but when the Bell family asks you to do a role, it's not that easy to say no," Goldin told TVGuide. "I worked for them many years ago on The Young and the Restless and it was a wonderful experience. I'm so honored to be back with them."

Goldin also admitted that the opportunity to play a villain "with a lot of potential layers" was appealing.

Since All My Children ended its run on ABC in September 2011, Goldin has established his own production company, GoldLine Entertainment. He has recently sold projects to MTV, the Style Network, TLC, and HGTV. The HGTV project, called Spontaneous Construction, meshes social media, flash mobs, and home renovations all into one 30-minute program. Spontaneous Construction had a soft launch in February, and the show will begin its regularly scheduled run beginning in April.

Goldin began his daytime run in 1990 on Another World, spending eight years as Dean Frame. In 1999, he appeared as Gary Dawson on The Young and the Restless. Goldin then moved to Guiding Light, where he played Gus Aitoro from 2001 to 2008. After exiting Guiding Light, Goldin joined All My Children.

Goldin has four Daytime Emmy nominations: three Outstanding Lead Actor nods (2003 and 2007 for Guiding Light, and 2011 for All My Children), and a 2010 Supporting Actor nomination for All My Children).
