It's been nearly 40 years since the demise of All My Children character Jenny Gardner, but her exit via a fatal jet ski explosion remains one of the most controversial deaths on the ABC soap opera. With the beloved daytime series possibly getting a primetime reboot, it's possible that Jenny could be revealed as being alive. At least, that's what the character's portrayer, Kim Delaney, said when asked if she'd be open to starring in the AMC revival, currently titled Pine Valley.
"All they have to do is ask, and I'm there," the actress, who is currently playing General Hospital's Jackie Templeton, enthused to She Knows. "Sure, Jenny died, but someone asked me the other day if we ever saw her body. So, maybe she's out there, somewhere..."
Longtime AMC star Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley Santos), who is producing Pine Valley, teased that the primetime AMC reboot will be much darker than its daytime counterpart and will focus on "the children of Pine Valley." But that doesn't mean Jenny couldn't play a part -- especially as Delaney has once again worked her way into soap fans' hearts opposite Michael E. Knight, who currently plays GH's Martin Gray but spent many years working beside her on AMC as Jenny's brother, Tad Martin.
"Fans love seeing us together almost as much as we love being able to work together again," Delaney raves of reuniting with Knight on GH.
At the moment, a lot of soap fans think Port Charles journalist Jackie and lawyer Martin could be heading toward romance, but is that true? "All I'm allowed to say is that there's a lot of story coming up for her," the actress teases of Jackie's future. "If I say anything else, Frank [Valentini, GH executive producer] will kill me!"
Delaney played All My Children's Jenny from 1981 to 1984 and went on to find primetime success on NYPD Blue and Lifetime's Army Wives. In 2020, the actress took on the role of GH's Jackie, who was famously portrayed by Demi Moore in the early 80s.
